Oregon Events Roundup - Nov. 23, 2019

This weekend features holiday flea markets and wild arts festivals, which will have art of all kinds from local artists.

Prepping for Thanksgiving and getting ready for the holidays can be stressful. So don't forget to spend some nights for yourselves by going out and experiencing some homegrown creativity. Art refreshes the soul!

No matter where you are in Oregon, Curbside has you covered with a roundup of great art events happening every weekend. This time, there are painter showcases, live music and flea markets that will show off the work of local artisans.

The Dinner Detective Interactive Murder Mystery - $65

Saturday, Nov. 23 - 6 pm

Downtown Convention Center - 435 NE Wasco St.

This live, local theatre is not your average dinner and a show. The audience influences this murder mystery and there is plenty of comedy to go along with the tragedy.

Wild Arts Festival - $10

Sunday Nov. 24 - 10 am to 5 pm

Pure Space - 1315 NW Overton Rd.

This art show and silent auction showcases all nature-themed works of art, all by local artists and crafters. Proceeds from this event go to the Portland Audobon (link), to help with its work with environmental conservation and education.

Portland Flea + Food - Free!

Sunday, Nov. 24 - 11 am to 4 pm

Jacobsen Salt Co. - 602 SE Salmon St.

Come see the wares of vintage curators, local artisans and merchants of all kinds. Over 60 vendors will be featured, as well as fabulous food and drink. All ages and pets are welcome!


Salem Philharmonia Orchestra - $20

Saturday, Nov. 23 - 7 pm

Chemeketa Community College - 6 E Campus Loop

This orchestral showcase features entirely British compositions, including the work of Edward Elgar. Come see local professional musicians bring life to these works.

Festival Chorale Oregon - $25+

Sunday Nov. 24 - 4 pm

Elsinore Theatre - 170 St. SE

This concert features Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, a sweeping choral composition that is perfect for getting into the holiday spirit the classy way. This festival is in its 40th season.

The Space - 1128 Edgewater St. NE

Just like in Portland, Salem is rocking a flea market that features the work and collections of artisans in the area. Not just a good spot to find holiday gifts, this is also just a chance to support local artists!


Fall Emerging Artists Show - Free!

WOW Hall - 291 W 8th Ave.

All November, local artists are being highlighted with receptions every Friday at the WOW Hall in downtown Eugene. This week features painter Simon Graves and local artist Christina Wickstein.

Build Your Own Terrarium - $35

Saturday Nov. 23 and Sunday Nov. 24 - 10 am

Lane Events Center - 796 W 13th Ave.

This is a specific booth at the Eugene Holiday Market, which is happening every weekend until Christmas. This opportunity to build your own nature art, however, is only happening this weekend according to the business’ Facebook page.

Shakespeare Uncorked - $25

Saturday Nov. 23 - 6 pm to 8:30 pm

J Scott Cellars - 520 Commercial Street

This comedy show is inspired by the work of Old Billy Shakes. Attendees can sip some vino and listen to parody renditions of the “to be or not to be” speech from Hamlet and so much more.


Shafty (Phish Tribute Band) - $15

Friday Nov. 22 - 9 pm

The Domino Room - 51 NW Greenwood Ave.

All Phish Heads welcome at this double-set show that will go well past midnight in downtown Bend. Shafty, a Portland Phish tribute band, is playing an homage rendition of works by the jam rock group from Burlington, Vermont.

Moon Mountain Trio

On Tap - 1424 NE Cushing Dr.

Central Oregon’s own bluegrass/swing band will be lending its talents to On Tap this weekend for a show for all the ramblers out there.

Fourth Friday Art Festival in Sisters

Friday Nov. 22 - 4 pm to 7 pm

Downtown Sisters - 252 W Hood Ave. - Sisters, OR

Visit more than 20 art galleries in Sisters alone, each with works by local artists, as well as live music at various venues and restaurants.


The Snow Queen - $15

Collaborative Theatre Project - 555 Medford Center

This is the opening weekend for the final show of the season at Collaborative Theatre Project. The Snow Queen is a family-friendly adventure story that runs through December.

Featuring the talents of local and regional stand-ups, this show is sure to be a good time for those looking for a laugh and a bite to eat this weekend.

This is the second of two events this month that feature handcrafted works by people all up and down the Oregon Coast. Perfect for finding gifts, enjoying the atmosphere or just seeing some cool stuff.

Man of La Mancha - $25

Friday Nov. 22 and Saturday Nov. 23 - 7 pm

Newport Performing Arts Center - 777 W Olive St. - Newport, OR

A musical based on the works of Cervantes, Man of La Mancha roared to the Broadway stage in 1965 and has left its mark ever since (a Spanish pun for the bilinguists out there). Go see this local adaptation in Newport if you find yourself on the Oregon Coast this weekend.
