It's finally December and that means holiday art events are cropping up all over Oregon. No matter where you are this weekend, there are pop-up markets to help you find the perfect gifts while supporting local artists. Plus, there are cultural holiday events to help you get in the spirit no matter how you celebrate.

Portland


Winter Maker’s Mercado Craft Fair - Free!

Saturday, Dec. 7 - 11 am to 4pm

This multicultural event starts this weekend and continues next weekend as well. It will feature food, crafts, music and other live performances. There are worse ways to get in the holiday spirit than by supporting local arts!

This event, in its 35th year, celebrates the cultures that many of our holiday traditions come from. With foods, goods, games and music from all over Scandinavia, this is a seasonal market done right.

Gingerbread Festival - Free!

Who says cookies can’t also be an artistic medium? This free event has gingerbread sculpting, pics with Santa, and arts and crafts of all kinds.

We feature quite a few 21+ events on these roundups, but here’s one just for the teens. Only people 14-19 are encouraged to attend (school or state ID required), so think of this as a high school dance without the high school (dress code and everything). It will have music, prizes and free Dutch Bros.

Modest Mouse - $56+

The Portland-grown Modest Mouse became a global smash with the release of “Float On” in 2004, but the group has a formidable catalog of many more hits it's taking to the McDonald Theatre this weekend.

Creswell’s Winter Lights

This annual event fills the entire day with Christmas celebrations, including a holiday market opening at noon and live music starting at 5:30 pm until the tree lighting. First Friday Art Walk - Free!

This time of year points much of our attention to the holidays, but regular, recurring local art events are still going strong. Here’s a prime example, with events and receptions at galleries all over Bend.

Holiday Tails Art and Craft Fair

There are plenty of holiday markets for human wares, this one boasts a huge inventory of arts and crafts for those furry family members. It’s all the work of local artists and makers, plus their will be animal-inspired art of all kinds. Proceeds from this event go to help unhoused animals.


Find the purrfect holiday gift and help homeless animals at the Holiday Tails Art & Craft Fair on December 7th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Athletic Club of Bend.

A variety of local artists will showcase photography, jewelry, wood working, fused glass, metal art, pottery, fiber art, clothing, CBD, ceramics and more!

Rogue Valley Chorale - Home for the Holidays - $16+

This choral showcase will feature classic Christmas compositions performed by Oregon musicians of all ages. This show pays particular honor to service men and women who are home for the holidays from overseas.

Featuring a candy cane hunt, coloring contest and face-painting, there’s plenty of entertainment leading up to the annual tree lighting. Plus, there will be live music and food trucks.

Designs and works from local artists will be highlighted at this annual showcase. Not only will buying these works help support local artists, but a percentage of all sales goes to benefit the Florence Regional Arts Alliance.
